BUST IN VEGAS
LAS VEGAS, NV (October 21) - Not the weekend Darrell Midgley and Team NPP wanted or expected at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Midgley was debuting a brand new Super Late Model on "The Bullring" track at the 2017 Senators Cup Fall Classic. "We had high expectations going in for sure," says a disappointed Midgley, "it was a frustrating few days here." The Sidney, British Columbia was not seeing on-track performance from his new Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd./Alien Race Cars #81 Dodge.

NEW CAR DEBUT DID NOT GO ACCORDING TO PLAN

"The new car was handling well," admits Midgley, "the motor just wouldn't run. It was flat. It wouldn't gain RPM." Midgley was well off the pace in several practice sessions held Thursday and Friday. "We changed carburators and plug wires hoping to fix the problem. It didn't work."

ENGINE ISSUES PLAGUED THE BRAND NEW RACE CAR IN VEGAS

Out of 34 cars, Midgley qualified 29th Friday afternoon. It was at this point Midgley decided to park the brand new car and bring out the backup car. "We didn't have any time to change the motor so we started working on the back up car." Midgley missed the Friday night heat race backing him in to a corner. He would have to finish second or win his 'B' Feature/Last Chance race to transfer to the 24 car $15,000 to win Feature. "We had one practice session Saturday to dial in the back up car for this track." Midgley ran as high as third in the 20 lap 'B' Feature. He finished fourth which ended his race weekend. This was only the second time in nine appearances at Las Vegas that Midgley has failed to run the big race of the weekend.

MIDGLEY BATTLES FOR A TRANSFER SPOT IN BACK UP CAR

"We just got to suck it up and move on to Tucson next week." Midgley indicates the new NPP/Alien Racecars Super Late Model wiil have a new engine installed for the one night show at Tucson Speedway on Saturday, October 28th.
