2009 N.P.P. LATE MODEL SERIES RACE FORMAT
A ‘regular’ night of racing with the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series is broken down into three segments as follows:

QUALIFYING HEATS
A total of three qualifying heats will be run if 18 – 23 NPP teams are present for an event. If less than 18 NPP teams are present, then two qualifying heats will be run. Lineup for the heat races are based on the current position in the point standings.** All heats are inverted unless there is a rookie driver in the lineup. Rookies will be placed at the back of their individual heats until the probationary period is over (three races). Based on a 6 car field (no rookies), number 1 in season points will go to the 6th position in Qualifying Heat #1. Number 2 in points goes to the 6th position in heat #2 and so on. Lap lengths for Qualifying heats will run anywhere from 8 to 12 laps (tracks discretion).

DASH
The top four cars from the Qualifying heats will transfer to the ‘A’ Dash race. Lineup for the 'A' Dash will be determined randomly by a pill draw. Heat race winners will always draw first, followed by drivers who finished second, third, etc. So as not to favor the winner of Heat 1 at every NPP event, a heat ‘order’ will be randomly determined before each night of racing. This pre-race decision (not revealed to drivers), will determine the pill draw order for ‘A’ Dash competitors and will automatically set the transfer order and lineup for 'B' Dash competitors.
EXAMPLE: (Heat ‘order’: 2, 3, 1) The winner of Heat 2 would be the first driver to pill draw for the starting lineup of the 'A' Dash. The winner of Heat 3 would draw next followed by the winner of Heat 1. Second place drivers from the heats would draw in the same order. The driver who finished fifth in Heat 2 would automatically sit on the poll for the 'B' Dash. The driver who finished fifth in Heat 3 would sit on the outside of row 1 of the 'B' Dash. The driver who finished fifth in Heat 1 would start inside on row two of the 'B' Dash. Driver’s who finished 6th and 7th etc., in their respective heats, would transfer in the same order.
NOTE: Passing points will be issued if both Dash race events are competed. 2 points are awarded for every position gained. Track officials have the option of cancelling one or both Dash races (inclement weather approaching/time constraints). In the event one or both Dashes are cancelled, the pill draw and transfer ‘order’ will be used to set the starting lineup for the Feature. The ‘A’ Dash will always take precedent over the ‘B’ Dash race.
DASH POINTS (first drivers meeting will determine): If only the ‘A’ Dash is run, NO points will be awarded (racing for starting position only) –OR– If only the ‘A’ Dash is run, a revised DASH point system to be implemented.
FEATURE
How you finish the Dash is how you will line up for the Feature. (Rookie rules apply). NPP Feature events for a ‘regular’ night of racing will total 25 – 30 laps in length (track discretion). Feature events up to 50 laps in length will be competed at special NPP events.
