A standard Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series race event is broken down into three segments:

QUALIFYING HEAT
A total of three Qualifying Heats will be run if 18 – 23 NPP teams are present for an event. If less than 18 NPP teams are present, then two Qualifying Heats will be run. After the season opening race, the lineup for the Qualifying Heats will be based on the current position in the point standings. All Qualifying Heats will be inverted. Rookie drivers, no matter their position in the standings, will be placed at the back of the lineup until the probationary period of three races is over. Based on an 18 car field (3 heats/no rookies), number 1 in season points will go to the 6th position in Qualifying Heat #1. Number 2 in points will go to the 6th position in Heat #2 and so on. A pill draw will then be made to determine the order of the Qualifying Heats. If a #1 pill is drawn there will be no change in order of the Qualifying Heats. If a #2 pill is drawn then Qualifying Heat #2 would go first. If the order of the Qualifying Heats is changed due to the pill draw, the Qualifying Heats will be re-named.
(If Qualifying Heat #3 goes first it would be referred to as Qualifying Heat #1 etc.)
*Random pill draw will determine the lineup of the Qualifying Heats at the Season Opener. Rookie drivers will start at the back.
**Officials have the option of running two Qualifying Heats if more than 18 NPP teams are present due to time limitations from a threatening weather forcast.
DASH
The 'A' and 'B' Dash races determine the starting line-up for the Feature race. The 'A' Dash will always have an even number of cars (maximum 12). Total number of cars transfering to the 'A' Dash is dependant on the number of NPP teams present. If three Qualifying Heats are run, then the top four cars from each Qualifying heat will transfer to the ‘A’ Dash race. If two Qualifying Heats are run, NPP Series officials have the option of transfering anywhere between two and five cars to the 'A' Dash depending on total car count.
DASH LINEUP
The lineup for the 'A' Dash will be determined randomly by a pill draw. Heat race winners will always draw first, followed by drivers who finished second, third, etc. The lineup order for 'B' Dash competitors is not set by pill draw. The first non-transfering car in Qualifying Heat race #1 and #2 will sit on the front row for the 'B' Dash race with the rest of the non-transfering cars filling in the rest of the field in the order where they positioned in the heats. The length of the Dash races will range from 8 - 12 laps.
NOTE: Passing points will be issued if both 'A' and 'B' Dash race events are competed. Two points are awarded for every position gained. Track officials have the option of cancelling one or both Dash races (inclement weather approaching/time constraints). In the event one or both Dashes are cancelled, the pill draw and transfer ‘order’ will be used to set the starting lineup for the Feature. The ‘A’ Dash will always take precedent over the ‘B’ Dash race.
FEATURE
How you finish the Dash is how you will line-up for the Feature. The standard length of a NPP Late Model Series Feature event is 25 laps but can be lengthened. NPP Series teams will be informed of the length of all races at the pre-race pit meeting.
